UltraPeater FAQ

As questions come up I’m going to add more details here.

Q: Do I need to order the LuckFox Separately?
A: Yes, you will need to purchase a LuckFox Pico Ultra from either LuckFox direct, AliExpress, Amazon, or some other outlet

Q: What LuckFox do I order
A: That depends
– For a Non POE-Powered unit – Order the LuckFox Pico Ultra
– For a Active POE powered unit (802.3af/at from your switch) – Order the LuckFox Pico Ultra w/POE Module
– For a PASSIVE POE powered unit – Order the LuckFox Pico Ultra and then add our POE Module to your cart when ordering your UltraPeater
– If you want WIFI Support* – Order the LuckFox Pico Ultra W
– If you want WIFI Support* and Active POE powered unit (802.3af/at from your switch) – Order the LuckFox Pico Ultra W w/POE Module
– If you want WIFI Support* and PASSIVE POE powered unit – Order the LuckFox Pico Ultra W and then add our POE Module to your cart when ordering your UltraPeater

Q: I bought your passive POE kit but there’s no power adaptor? What do I use?
A: We don’t supply a power adaptor as it’s a bit of a minefield keeping in line with electrical compliance standards. Most people have a “box-o-adaptors” laying around so you can finally tell your significant other it was worthwhile keeping them! Any 12-24v 1A or greater power supply will power the UltraPeater with our POE kit just fine.

Q: Your modules list “900” and “915” – I’m using 868, which module do I purchase?
A: Currently the “P” 868 module (with inbuilt filter) is out of stock with EBYTE and they are really hard to get, however the “900” E22 module covers the 868 band. You may need to add an external filter to your setup in high noise environments, but the E22 (non P) module will work just find at 868

Q: Do you ship internationally?
A: Yes – we do, postage charges will be listed however note that ANY and ALL import duties will be the resonsibility of the purchaser, and your item may get held by customs/the relevant authorities in your country and additional charges may apply. We have no control over these charges, and we will NOT refund for any boards that get stuck in customs.

Q: I don’t want to power the unit via POE, what are my other options?
A: You can power the unit via USB-C (1A adaptor at least) or directly via the yellow 2 pin header on the board. The top most pin is the 5v pin. Do not overvolt the board, it will end badly (ask me how I know!)

Q: Is this supported for MeshCore?
A: Yes – The device was built to support the MeshCore network in regional NSW

Q: I’ve had trouble with some devices on “Narrow” (62.5KHz) settings, will this work on Narrow?
A: Yes – The modules we use have a TXCO for superior stability and work perfectly on Narrow settings

Q: Does the E22P 915 Module work at 923 … 928 MHz?
A: Yes – The E22P modules have a bandwidth from 902-928 MHz

Q: Is the supplied case weatherproof?
A: The case currently available on the website is not weatherproof

Q: I want an N-Type pigtail not an SMA
A: We will shortly have a 15cm N-Type pigtail upgrade option available in the store
