Engineered for fixed, high-performance deployments at comms sites, towers, masts, or remote installations, the UltraPeater transforms the compact power of the Luckfox Pico Ultra into a reliable, always-on backbone node. Unlike portable solar-powered mesh devices, the UltraPeater is built for seamless integration into existing infrastructure: powered via PoE for 24/7 uptime, mast-mount ready, and ships with a preconfigured setup so it hits the air running.

At its core is a precision-engineered radio hat featuring one of two high-performance EBYTE E22-series LoRa modules (customer-selectable at order*):

  • EBYTE E22 900M30S — 30dBm (1W) output with integrated LNA (Low noise amplifier) for superior sensitivity and performance in low-noise environments, delivering exceptional range and reliability where clean spectrum is available.
  • EBYTE E22P 915M30S — 30dBm (1W) with both integrated LNA and BPF (Low Noise Amplifier and Band Pass Filter for 915MHz), providing top-tier noise rejection and clean operation in higher-RF-noise environments like HAM Radio sites, dense urban towers or co-located comms sites.

Every UltraPeater board is rigorously tested in-house, with actual transmit power output verified before shipping—so you get guaranteed performance, not just spec-sheet promises.

Flexible Antenna Connectivity

The UltraPeater can be optioned with your choice of two robust antenna connector types to suit your installation:

  • SMA — Compact and widely compatible, perfect for sheltered outdoor installations or use indoors.
  • N-type — Rugged, weatherproof, and ideal for outdoor/mast-mounted setups with low-loss coax runs.

To maximize coverage and performance, pair it with one of our carefully selected antenna options (all tuned for LoRa/900MHz bands):

  • 2dBi SMA Antenna — Compact rubber duck-style omnidirectional for easy integration and good all-around performance in moderate-range setups.
  • 3dBi N Antenna — Balanced gain omnidirectional, excellent for general mast deployments needing reliable coverage without excessive height.
  • 6dBi N Antenna — High-gain fiberglass omnidirectional for superior range extension, perfect for elevated tower sites aiming to bridge long distances.

Note: All antenna specifications (gain, pattern, etc) are estimations based on the best available manufacturer information at the time of listing—real-world performance can vary depending on installation, environment, and cable losses.

Seamless Integration for Remote Management

The UltraPeater integrates directly into your site’s existing network via its Ethernet/PoE connection, enabling full remote access for configuration, monitoring, upgrades, and maintenance—no more driving hours to a remote tower just to perform an OTA update or tweak settings while holding your phone in the air hoping for signal. Once connected to the local LAN (or via VPN/tunnel services like Tailscale or ZeroTier for off-site access), you can securely reach the device’s web-based dashboard from anywhere. This allows real-time viewing of packet statistics, neighbor status, system health, and logs; easy adjustment of radio parameters, repeater behavior, or network settings; and even software/firmware updates—all without physical site visits. Say goodbye to unnecessary travel, weather exposure, and downtime hassles; the UltraPeater keeps your mesh backbone manageable from your desk or phone.

Flexible Deployment Options**

Customize your UltraPeater to match your site needs:

  • Add the Passive PoE board + injector (supports wide 8–32V input) for simple, robust power delivery over standard Ethernet cable—ideal for remote or non-standard PoE setups (customer must supply the power supply).
  • Choose the sealed, outdoor-rated, mast-mount case — weatherproof, rugged, and purpose-built for tower or pole mounting in harsh conditions; or
  • Opt for the compact indoor case — perfect for sitting on a shelf in your rack inside a transmitter hut, shelter, or comms cabinet.

The customer supplies their own Luckfox Pico Ultra board (the perfect Linux-capable foundation with ARM Cortex-A7, NPU, and rich interfacing). For those preferring active 802.11af PoE (instead of passive), select the appropriate Luckfox Pico Ultra variant with 802.3af support at the time of purchase from the official source.

Software and Compatibility

A downloadable, ready-to-go operating system image optimized for MeshCore, featuring the powerful pyMC_Repeater repeater daemon (https://github.com/rightup/pyMC_Repeater), is available to get your UltraPeater up and running quickly as a high-performance MeshCore node. This setup includes a user-friendly web dashboard for monitoring, statistics, and configuration—making administration straightforward even at remote sites.

Install scripts are available for the LuckFox Pico Ultra only, scripts for the LuckFox Ultra W (wireless option) coming as soon as a device is available to test with.

The device is also able to be user-configured with other software and networks, expanding it’s potential uses to other meshes*. Comprehensive pin mapping descriptions will be provided, empowering experimenters and developers to adapt the hardware for alternative LoRa mesh protocols, custom applications, or emerging standards.
